Chances are you've probably told a few whoppers in your time and most of them to yourself, even though it doesn't do us any good we still do it anyway.
No, this post doesn't include leather whips or blindfolds - unfortunately - but more simply (and innocently) a post to highlight the often forgotten and underrated colour that is grey.
Yep, that's right. Winter is almost gone and Spring is fast approaching. It's almost time to ditch that I-look-about-20-stone-in-this coat and opt for a more lighter alternative - phew.
So here's the trends that will be hitting the high street - if they have not already - this Spring:
Seventies Style
Bring back the flares, the fringes and the crochet for the boho vibe is nearly upon us. This is more than just a #ThrowbackThursday, be prepared for the seventies style to make a dent in your SS wardrobe this year. A-line skirts, floral prints and maybe even a pair of flared trousers (if you're daring enough that is).

The "Do you prefer drugstore or high-end products?" question comes up in almost every beauty tag there is, whether it be on blogs or YouTube videos, everyone in the know has probably answered this question at least once.
This 1 year old already has a better life than you and probably always will. But other than travelling to loads of countries and having met every famous face there is, here's 22 more reasons why she already has a better life than you:
Bread Board - with pesto hummus, olives and oils |
Charcuterie board - selection of cured meats, pickles, olives, oils, red onion marmalade and toasted focaccia |
Roasted heirloom beetroot salad - fennel, chicory, bean sprouts, sultanas and toasted seeds |
Homemade beef burger with H&H chilli jam, coleslaw and skinny fries |
This week has gone so fast. Too fast if you ask me. It felt like only yesterday it was Monday and I was planning what to do for the week ahead. Now it's Sunday and I have to go back to school tomorrow.
Ah you've got to love Bournemouth, don't you? From the girls in bum shorts sharing a cigarette outside McDonald's to the amount of tourists you always complain about, you still love the place. And here's 33 signs that you know you really and truly are a born and bred Bournemouth girl...
Before now, I had never ever taken - or posed for - OOTD (Outfit Of The Day) photos, but here I am now, posing in my back garden at 1 o'clock in the afternoon for an OOTD post (how many times can I say OOTD in one post). So yeah congrats to me on losing my OOTD virginity.
Of course there's going to be coffee in this post, Costa to be precise - obvs.
Just look at that name. Doesn't that just scream "BUUUUY MEEEE!". Who doesn't want to be photoready? Who doesn't want to have an airbrushed effect? Uh I'm not raising my hand.
I've been in the market for a new foundation for a while as Rimmel's Match Perfection just isn't doing it for me and my oily skin at the moment. Reading reviews before purchasing something, espcially foundation, is something I swear by and after hours of searching for a foundation that fit my criteria (oil-free/medium to heavy coverage/affordable/something that will make me look fabulous) I came across this.
Revlon is a brand that I've never really had an opinion on so part of this purchase was a leap of faith - we've all got to have these kind of moments in our lives, this one was pretty exceptional don't you think? This particular foundation has been out for a while but they've recently "improved" the formula and so there was another reason for me to give it a try.
I gave it a go last Friday when I took a day trip to London, my day started at a painful 5 o'clock and I arrived home at half 8 that evening and to my amazement I still had a full face of make up on. This foundation hadn't budge, not one bit. Of course there were one or two powder touch ups as the day progressed but the make up I had put on in the early hours of Friday morning had lasted all day.
The foundation really does live up to it's name, although I didn't feel like Mirander Kerr or Kendall Jenner (to name but a few examples), this PhotoReady Airbrush Effect foundation really does give your face that photoshopped complexion that everyone's always dreamed of! The only downside to this product is the application, once on the skin, the liquid is harder to buff in in comparison to other foundations I have tried. But a little extra elbow grease to achieve this flawless look is something I don't mind doing.
The Revlon PhotoReady Airbrush Effect Foundation retails for £12.99 but is currently £3.00 off in Boots (making it £9.99 if you aren't the best at Maths), so pick it up and give it a try!
What's your favourite foundation?

This has again been one of those weeks where for the most part I've been bed bound and ridden with illness with nothing that exciting to report on.
Nothing smells better than freshly baked cookies mmmm mmmm. I decided to make a batch for my friends and family last weekend as a Valentine's Day treat - cute, I know.
Whilst you're reading this I'm currently on my way to London - woo buzzing - even though its part of a school trip, lol. Anyway, here are this week faves, I hope you enjoy...
I've always used eyelash curlers and they're a step I never fail to include in my make up routine. For some people however, eyelash curlers can look horrifying and come with the fear of ripping out all of your eyelashes. But once you know how to use them, you'll never look back.
This week has mainly consisted of me staying in bed surrounded by a variety of medicine and bottled water - yes, I've been ill. So it has been rather difficult to find something to share with you as this week has mainly been the view of the end of my bed and packets upon packets of tablets - of course I'm not going to share photos of those.
Every now and again you spy something, whether it be during a mammoth Ikea catalogue flick through (I'm guilty to that) or an Instagram sesh (oh and this too), that gets you motivated to revamp your desk, or room or your whole bloody life.
I'm liking this. The fact that I'm regularly posting and staying on top of my Friday Faves, I like it. Here are this weeks faves:
If you still use make up wipes, I have one word for you; WHY?! If you've been living under a rock for the past 12 months, then I'll give you benefit of the doubt, but seriously jump off the make up wipe wagon and head on over to the make up wipe free train - wow I worded that so well. Make up wipes are no good to your skin, they contain too many chemicals and give you that red face looked after using them - that ain't a pretty look girlfriend.
Yes they may be quicker and easier- especially after a night out- but your skin hates them, trust me.
So what are the alternatives Bethany? I hear you ask. Well, you've probably heard of some of the following; Garnier Micellar Water, Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser, Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil. All these balms, oils and liquids are all face-friendly alternatives to rubbing a wipe across your face.
Let me explain...
Garnier Micellar Water was a big thing last year and everyone was trying it, and everyone loved it. This water simply disintegrates your make up off your face - its magic. All you need to do it pour a bit onto a cotton pad, hold over your eyes and wipe away or just smooth it over your face. It's as simple as that. And your face isn't red afterwards. This method is similar to The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil but for this one you can just rub a bit between your fingers and massage it over your face and neck then simply just wash off with warm water. These products leave your face feel refreshed and dirt-free, they don't contain any nasty chemicals - plus the camomile one smells good too.
My personal favourite is to use the Garnier Micellar Water first and then the Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser to remove any dirt that the micellar water didn't manage to remove. The hot cloth cleanser is simple and sooo beneficial to your skin. Massage the cream into your face and neck and soak the muslin cloth in warm water. Then using the hot cloth, wipe it all over your face to remove hidden dirt and any excess cream. I've written a more in depth blog post on the whole Cleanse & Polish process which you can read about here.
There are so many make up wipe alternatives out there that your skin is probably itching for you to try. So why don't you head down to your nearest drugstore and pick up some of my faves!

You may or may not have seen that when you typed in editedstyle.blogspot.com into your search engine, Google changed it to bethanyemerton.com - how exciting!
So yeah, I've bought a domain to kick start things, get my blog rolling and see where this will take me. Although I loved Edited Style, it was never going to be permanent as it still had ".blogspot.com" behind it and Edited Style was copyrighted to some home design website (I didn't know about this till recently). Now I've branched out and personalised my blog to my own name, got my own email address in my own name (so cool I know) and have created myself a platform to work from, lets hope the only way to go from here is up - cringeballs.
Things are still processing and yes the title on this page still reads "Edited Style" but give a girl some time eh. I need to re-do my logo and then hopefully by this time next week, everything you will see will have bethanyemerton.com written all over it - I'm kidding.
So here's to my new domain and the start of something good *raises stolen Costa mug in the air* *some cappuccino spills out* *doesn't clean it up, writes about it on blog instead*
