NEW SEGMENT ALERT

It seems that my New Year's resolution is to introduce new segments to my blog but it isn't, I promise. I'm pretty sure that a while back (and by a while back I mean a while back) I started doing this and probably (most likely) didn't stick to it. But this time I'm going to start afresh and every week post a few photos that sum up my week - pretty self explanatory really.

1. Costa

I flick between being a typical white girl and craving Starbucks every five minutes to being Costa obsessed. And this week, as you can guess from the photo, I was loving Costa. Here I was with a lovely close friend of mine called Gaby who I met - after not seeing her for such a long time - for Costa the other day. We gossiped of coffee (well I had the coffee, she had a tea), reminisced on old memories and shared what was happening in our lives.

2. Pink Sky

Like every teenage, Instagram obsessed female, I love taking pictures of the sky - especially when it's pink! This photo is of the view from my window the other day when the sun cast a pretty pink shade over the sky one evening.

3. Ikea

It's basically a monthly tradition for my family to go to Ikea to purchase some definitely not needed goodies - oh and meatballs too. However this time, my Dad and I took a trip to Ikea last Saturday to purchase a Kallax Shelving Unit in white (obvs). But being the typical Ikea shopper, we came out with more than we bargained for, oops.

P.S. There will be a Room Tour post coming soon!

4. Prezzo Salad

I've had many salads in my time. Some good, and some damn right fabulous. This cheeky plate of heaven was consumed by me last Friday whilst I was at Prezzo for my Auntie's birthday, I knew what I was ordering as soon as I saw the word "Avocado" - I know, I'm obsessed.  But if you love salad, grilled chicken and avocado on one plate, then seriously go try this!

Wait what, ice cream for breakfast?! Yeah, I know. And guess what, it's acceptable.

After recently purchasing some coconut ice cream - which may I add, comes in the actual coconut shells - I was so eager to try it in a smoothie for breakfast as a replacement to frozen yoghurt. The thing that makes this sweet treat acceptable to eat at breakfast is that it's all natural. It's not the kind of ice cream that has been artificially made with god knows what kind of additives and preservatives. It's simply just frozen coconut!

This recipe only contains 2 ingredients and takes on 2 steps - unless you want some fruity decorations.

There's so many ways you can turn this dessert into a guilt-free breaky, brunch or tasty snack. Here's my personal fave...

Ingredients:

-Coconut Ice-Cream
-Frozen Berries

Extras

-Pomegranate Seeds (optional)
-Coconut Chunks (optional)

Method:

Begin by blending together the coconut ice cream and the frozen berries. You'll know it's ready when it turns to a gorgeous pink shade and has the consistency of smooth ice cream.

Scoop the mixture on your plate, making it neat and presentable - for Instagram of course!

Finally, throw on any fruity decorations you'd like! This time I've sprinkled some pomegranate seeds over which give it a much needed citrus-y kick.

And then you're done!

.......don't forgot to lick the spoon as well.

Who say's you can't have coconut for breakfast?

I'm currently sat here snuggled up in bed, sporting my new Zara tee which reads "Went to bed with a dream and woke up with this cool t-shirt" (it's fab, I know) and clasping my large cappuccino in a mug which I may, or may not have borrowed/stolen from Costa - it had two handles, I couldn't not.

Can I just point out that this will be the third, yes third, "Friday Faves" post *gives self pat on back* so far I've stuck to it and I'm proud of myself.

Here we go...

1. Slogan Tees

Yes, yes yes. I am blabbing on about slogan tees - again. I probably sound like a broken record and if you read my blog you would have come into contact with numerous posts which express my undying love for all things slogan tee related (you can read some of them here and here). It's the time of the year when Zara's Christmas/New Year's sale goes mad and everything ends up being 75% off, basically the best thing in the world. I managed to pick up 5 slogan tees in the sale recently and they were all either £5.99 or £3.99, yes I know BARGAIN! I tend to pair them with a black bomber jacket, black bottoms and white trainers, you know I like to keep it colourful.

2. Aldi's New "The Foodie Market" Range

My personal fave is mushing avocado with salt, pepper and spring onions on top of the crispbread.
Jumping on the "Healthy January" bandwagon, Aldi have brought out a brand new range of delicious superfoods, from nuts, to crispbread to dried fruits, Aldi have got it down to a tee. They're perfect for on the go or just as a healthy snack and the three I've tried are yuuuuuummy.

3. Money Supermarket Advert

Okay, I'm not going to lie, this is a bit of a weird favourite but once you've seen this advert you'll know what I'm talking about. BEST ADVERT EVER. This advert had me in stitches and even features Shazza O. Well done MoneySuperMarket round of applause to you.

4. Nicki Minaj's New Album "The Pinkprint"

Yes okay, I like Nicki Minaj. I'm not one of those "Barbiez", I promise, I just like her music, think of it as a guilty pleasure. Her new album, released back in December, features collabs from the likes of Ariana Grande, Beyonce and Jeremih. If this is your kinda music, check it out (get it?).

5. Pinrest

I do apologise for the lack of actual material items that feature in this weeks faves. Pinrest is nothing new but to me it is. I've heard everyone, even my mother - yes my mother - mention Pintrest in sentences regarding where she has her ideas from or something she'd seen, so I thought I'd go take a took. And OMG do I love it. There are so many ideas to get from there and I'm itching to re-arrange this and that. Go check out my board here.

And that concludes a, personally, quite disappointing Friday Faves. Thank you for reading.

*Insert awful pre-disco photo here*

Some pretty gossip worthy things happened at every year 6 school disco, didn't they?

1. All the girls were sporting as many neon accesories that was humanly possible; neon headbands (more than one obvs), neon sweatbands, neon fish net gloves, neon leg warmers etc etc.

2. You'd been jumping so much that your £2.99 Primark bag (a bright neon one obvs) was flying everywhere and you'd be scared that your £2 sweets money would fall out so you clung onto that bad boy for dear life.

3. The I'm-acting-older-than-I-really-am girl would come in the coolest kitten heels which her older sister lent her, but you weren't jealous at all because it meant that she couldn't run around so you could play kiss chase and get all the boys, winner.

4. Everyone was practically high on E numbers from all the 5p sweets and Panda Pop that was available.

5. All the girls looked like they had just walked out of an explosion in Claire's Accessories.

6. When Crazy Frog came on everyone sprinted around the room in one massive circle which made you really dizzy but you didn't care because it was the Crazy Frog, durh.

7. All the girls would gather in the toilets to re-apply their most sparkliest pink lipgloss that was the latest Girl Talk freebie.

8. You'd have your 28AA bra strap showing so all the boys would know how grown up you were.

9. When you were out of money for Flumps you'd ask the boy who fancied you to buy you one, you little slut you.

10. Once you saw that there was a massive disco ball above, you knew that you were practically out clubbing.

11. Everyone would have bright red faces and some with sweat dripping down (ew smelly boys) because of all the dancing you'd be doing.

12. You and your best friend would try and down a whole plastic cup full of orange squash in one go, it's basically like necking shots, yeah?

13. And you'd always win because you have the throat skills of a champ. Still do.

14. You'd didn't care that there were teachers watching when your crush pounced on you with an artificial strawberry flavoured kiss.

15. You'd ask the DJ to play Low by Flo-rida so you could bust out your moves to your own choreographed dance, professional or what?

16. But he could only play the clean version so you shouted the dirty words instead, "SHAWTY HAD THEM APPLE BOTTOM JEANS...."

17. When When I Grow Up by The Pussycat Dolls came on, you were loving life because your hip shakes made you look like Nicole Sherzinger, right?

18. You were so embarrassed when you're Dad came to pick you up, because of course he had to be the first parent to get there, mega annoying.

19. At the end, you'd give your crush-of-the-night a goodnight kiss in front of everyone because you wanted everyone to know that things were serious.

20. You felt like a rebellious teenager, even though you were 12, because you had a late night on a school night, total rebel.

21. Getting home at half 8 and thinking "Omfg that was the best night of my life"

Weren't those days just the best?

Guys look at the title. Yes that's right, I've stuck to it, Friday Faves is back for the second time running and I'm prouda myself *gives self pat on back*.

Even though it's only been a week, to my own surprise, I've found it easy to think of new favourites, new things I'm obsessed with and new things I want to share with you guys.

Let's go...

1. Black Padded Bomber Jacket

I think I've found my new favourite item of clothing. Lately I've been stuck in a bit of a fashion rut - we all get it from time to time - and I've been itching to switch up my wardrobe from "classy" and fucking uncomfortable to cool and comfy. Of course it still remains very much monochrome but cigarette trousers, heeled boots and blazers have been brushed aside (for now) and in its place; slogan tees, dare I say it, trainers and leggings - yes I know, have become my new staples. So yeah, this little number has been glued to me and to top it off, it doesn't have 1 pocket, not even 2 pockets, but three motherfucking pockets - Life - 0, Bethany 1.

2. EOS Strawberry Sorbet Lip Balm

We all know how much hype this "ball" had way back when, but being the strong, independent woman I am, I never caved into the craze. However, for Christmas I was gifted this from my Secret Santa at school and deep down I was so fucking happy. My Secret Santa must have secretly known that I was dying to try it, I mean c'mon its spherical, who even thinks of making a spherical lip balm?! EOS I love you.

3. Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser

I've blabbed about this "Teenage Skin Saviour" before (you can read my blog post here) and for a while now I've been religiously using it twice a day. It's so simple yet so effective and a must have for all skin types. Paired with a Liz Earle muslin cloth, this cleanser leaves your face feeling refreshed, make-up free and cleansed to the max. If you haven't tried this yet, I seriously recommend it, just pop into your local Boots and give this a try!

4. Smoothie Maker

"Oh how cliché Bethany" I hear you mutter. Yes I know It's January. Yes I know I sound like every other teenage, female, instagram user who is on a bit of a "health kick" but so what. Smoothies are fucking fab and don't lie, you kinda want to make a smoothie now, don't you, don't you. I've swapped my morning cereal for a blend of every-kind-of-berry-you-can-think-of and soya milk for a much needed 7 o'clock boost. So here's to a healthy me *raises sports bottle full of berry nice (see what I did there) smoothie*.

5. Zumba

Just me doing a quick stretch

I know how ironic this sounds, considering that I've just expressed my undying love for smoothies and fitted into a fitness-mad teenage girl stereotype, but I promise I'm not. My mum encouraged me to lose my Zumba virginity (don't worry, those words never actually came out of her mouth - thank god) last Tuesday and dragged me along to one of her work colleague's Zumba classes. You know, the ones that are filled with middle aged, menopausal women where I was the only one not sporting some platinum highlights, yeah that kind of Zumba class. Despite my initial doubts, it was great! Although I did come out looking like a polished tomato and struggled to breathe, but apart from the initial nauseous feelings, sweat dripping from every orifice of my entire body, I loved it and I'm defo going back next week.

And with that sweaty image of me in your minds, today's Friday Faves is over.

Why say it when you can wear it?

Having taken the fashion world by storm and appearing in almost all high street and designer stores, the iconic "slogan tee" has upped the basic white tee game. From classic statements "Always dress as if you're about to see your ex" (girls do take note) to seductive French vocab "La vie est magnifique sois toi-meme", no statement has been left unturned when it comes to slogan tees.

Spotted on the likes of Cara Delevingne and Millie Mackintosh, the slogan tee is everywhere.

With three under my belt so far, the slogan tee is all I've been wearing recently, a simple yet trendy look. Who'd thought t-shirts would be cool?!

Here's your guide on how to style this iconic fashion weapon...

1. The Classic

Jeans and a white tee is what it used to be. But jeans and a slogan tee is where it's at. Try pairing your statement upper half with jeans on the bottom half and some pointed nude courts for an effortlessly chic look.

 Zara - £3.99                                                     Zara - £15.99                                      Office - £65

2. All Black Everything

Who says slogan tees have to be white?! This Millie Mackintosh inspired look turns a basic t-shirt into something a little more classy.

ILWF - £14.99                                      Avenue 32 - £405                                    Zara - £29.99

3. Miss Monochrome

This tucked in t-shirt breaks up a black heavy outfit and screams edgy. Try mixing it up with a pair of flats for a more feet friendy, day-to-day look.

Missguided - £15                                     River Island - £30                                      Boohoo - £30

So there we have it, three examples of how you can style the class slogan tee.

That's all for now,

Bethany

Introducing a new segment to my blog is one thing. Keeping it up, is another.

But being January - a time for fresh starts and 20 second bouts of motivation, I thought I'd give this one a go.

A while back to one of my very first posts *blows off cobwebs* I began to write a segment every Friday called "Friday Fashion Fix" (I didn't manage to keep it up for long and as you can see I only posted two, you can read them here and here if you really want to). However this time around, I won't limit myself to just fashion related goods and instead I'm going to encompass erry'thing I've been loving the past week.

Anyway, here are my faves...

1. Palmers Cocoa Butter Hand Cream

I've never been a fan of hand cream, it just reminds me of old people with wrinkly hands (no offence mum) and flaky skin - mega ew! But after being given this chocolate smelling, soft skin smoother, I've been hooked. I don't know whether it's the fact that I'm trying to cut down on chocolate and this sweet chocolate smell gives me my daily faux chocolate kick or that my hands feel as smooth as a baby's arse. But regardless of whatever reason that has caused me to almost squeeze this bad boy dry, it's fucking fab and I should've jumped on the skin-smelling-like-chocolate bandwagon years ago, come at me boys.

2. Prison Break

Praise the Lord Baby Jesus for this show and praise the Lord Baby Jesus for Netflix showing it. I'm not going to lie, I did hear how good it was months ago but I didn't want to let myself become one of those Netflix obsessed, can't-get-out-of-bed types, but fuck it, I'm hooked. My boyfriend introduced me to it recently and we're already through Season 1 - as if that's hard to accomplish anyway. So yeah, if you haven't seen it already and need some excuse to stay in bed with your laptop propped up on your now warm and toasty thighs, I highly recommend.

3. Mason Drinking Jars (with handles)

You must have seen these around, especially back in 2014 (not that it was that long ago). They're basically Pintrest in drinking glass form. You can get them with screw top lids, screw top lids and straws and even screw top lids with reusable straws - the list is endless. I picked mine up a few weeks ago from Tk Maxx (aka heaven) for only £4.99 for 4! Urban Outfitters sell them for around £10 for one (wtf?!) but they do come with the lid and the cool, reusable straw. I just went for the basic set and I fricking love them.

4. Zara Femme Eau De Toilette

Don't ask me what this smells like because I can't describe it, other than the fact that it is a "me" smell - according to my mum. It smells fab, it looks fab and yeah, you get the idea. I have so many bottles of perfumes from Marc Jacobs to Versace but half way through the sparkling bottle I just get sick of the smell. However this little Zara number in its effortless and chic packaging is one that I know (and pray) that I won't get sick of. Winner.

5. Fluffy Mule Slippers

It's a bit weird having slippers in a favourites post, but what the hell, I'm doing it anyway.

To describe these slippers, "comfy" would be an understatement. They're only cheapies from Primark but my god they're dreamy. From the moment I step foot into my house and until I leave the front door these slippers are permanently stuck to my feet. They may be your typical boring, granny-looking slipper but don't knock 'em till you've tried 'em. They're so fluffy I'm gonna die.

6. Leather Notebooks

Nothing makes you want to look into someone else's notebook more than if it's leather bound.

This isn't a recent purchase but something I've had for many years and is filled with all sorts; from shopping lists, blog post ideas and most importantly To-Do lists. Something about leather notebooks just screams "Write something in me!!!" and I'm way more inclined to jot down ideas in a leather notebook than I will ever be in Notes on my Iphone or a flimsy ring binder. Plus Harry Styles has been spotted clutching one after getting off a plane and don't even lie, we all want to know what's in there.

7.  Post-It Notes

ALERT ALERT STATIONERY PORN

If you're like me, or if you're just a girl in general, stationery will get you weak at the knees. I don't know how bits of coloured paper, pens and pencils make me go giddy but they do - god help me. My best friend Scarlett (her blog is here, *plugs best friends blog*, go check it out) and I are obsessed with anything to do with stationery, even if it's your bog standard neon yellow post-it. These stick bits of paper are great for anything and when you open your school planner and see a pink, heart shaped post-it note with your homework written in a bright, glittery gel pen, you're probably way more likely to actually do it (just so you can tick it off with said bright, glittery gel pen).

And that's it! Keep your eyes peeled for next Friday's Faves!

Bethany

P.S. If it isn't uploaded I give you permission to personally beat me up until it is.
