As Summer’s around the corner, a wardrobe update is needed? Of course! Any excuse to treat yourself and indulge in a bit of Sumer loving? I think so!
As part of The Blogger Programme, I came across a competition to “Win £500 To Spend At Excel Clothing”, as soon as I saw this, I jumped at the chance! Excel Clothing is one of the UK’s and Ireland’s leading designer brand retailers and offers a wide assortment of designer goods including bags and dress and much more! The competition requires you to choose 3 of their products and include them in a blog post, sounds perfect to me!
Summer gives us a much needed reason to ditch the safe monochrome look and delve into the world of colour, yes I said it, colour. It’s easy to chuck on a white tee over some black skinnies but its Summer and colour is essential! To spruce up a black and white outfit, why not add a block of colour in the form of a bag to jazz it up a bit? On Excel Clothing, I found the perfect colour block bag. A Ted Baker classic design, featuring key colours on trend this SS, the ZoosZoos Colour Block Metal Tote Bag In Pink is the one! This colour block tote is sure to be a fashion favourite this season. A contrasting handle strap injects just the right amount of colour for us colour-shy fashionistas. Gold metal hardware adds a touch of class and a black and white floral print on the inside still allows us to feel safe. With enough room to fit all those beauty essentials, this Ted Baker bag can be used as a beach bag or just and everyday shopping buddie – this is definitely on my wishlist!

Okay, I’ll admit it, I am going a bit Ted Baker crazy this SS, I mean why not, their collection is on point this season and may I add, to die for! Next on my wishlist is therefore another Ted Baker item, a perfect clutch for a cool Summers evening. The Macia High Tee Crosshatch Bag In Cream fits the bill and will effortlessly glam up any outfit. Pair this with a floor length white dress for a formal occasion or even a floral swing dress for a casual day out. Ted Baker once again never fails to impress and with that this clutch allows your girly side to come out and you can’t say no to jewelled detailing can you! The clutch comes complete with a matching coral colour to the ZoosZoos bag, well I guess it’s a match made in bag heaven! The ZoosZoos tote for during the day, then the Macia clutch for the evening – sorted.

Finally, I thought I’d switch it up a bit and head for something less, well something that isn’t a bag. Even though Summer is the hottest time of the year, for us here in England, “hot” is a tad of an overstatement. Some days and most evenings tend to be fairly cooler and something to throw on when the temperatures dropped is vital. A basic white sweater is a wardrobe staple for anyone, no matter of their fashion status. ThisHugo Boss Orange Wava Sweater isn’t just your average sweater. Oh no. it contains an elegant drooping, sweep over back tied together with a subtle button detail. Paired with some jeans, and hey presto you have a basic yet very stylish “cooler day” outfit or just simply through over your outfit to keep you staying warm when sitting outside in the evening. Not just a gorgeous white knitted sweater, but a Hugo Boss knitted sweater is the perfect for this Summer.

That unfortunately concludes todays post, stay tuned for more and make sure you check out the Excel Clothing website!

It's that time of the year again, a time that's more stressful than exams and pretty much an insight into what your wedding will be like! I'm talking about prom, one of the most key dates on any girl's calendar. A date when hair, makeup, nails, dress and shoes are all booked and bought way in advance.
All eyes are on you at prom and speculation as to what your dress will be like is high. Everything must match, from jewellery to shoes and eyeshadow to lip colour - there's no room for error!
Make up, like everyday, is a crucial part and leaves large gaps for potential errors. To eliminate this, myself and a few of my friends went to the Bobbi Brown concession in our local Beales Department Store to get our prom makeover.
The girls at Bobbi Brown were lovely and flipped our stressed and anxious atmosphere into a more calm and humorous vibe. With music playing in the background; our make up being done for us and being surrounded by our friends, it was the perfect way to get ready - all we needed was drinks to complete it!
My makeup was done by a lovely girl named Katie who ensured everything was coordinated, complemented my dress and macthed my skin colour. Having quite oily skin, Katie suggested that using their foundation stick would be best. This helped to counteract the oil and leave a matte finish. The foundation stick also contained no SPF making sure no flash from the camera was reflected on my skin - shiny forehead alert = banished!
Colour wise, I was matched to "Warm Beige" and this was blended in using the Bobbi Brown Foundation Brush. Complementary to this, a "Beige" coloured concealer and a "Bisque" coloured corrector helped to hide imperfections and even out my skin tone.
To set this all in place, the make up artist used a powder in "Soft Sand" which also helped to mattify the skin as well. Next, "Natural" bronzer was applied to contour and define my cheekbones as well as a pop of colour from the blush "Slopes".
Now onto my favourite bit and the part that can make or break the look. Get one colour choice wrong and that's it. Luckily, the make up artist was an expert and knew what she was doing.
We all know how important eyeshadow is. Getting the right colour in the crease is crucial and not to mention all over the lid as well! The make up artist used the Eye Sweep Brush to apply "Petal" to my lids. Swatching it on her hand before, the eyeshadow was so pigmented and had a lovely sparkle to it. After a few decisions, we finally narrowed the crease colour down to "Heather" which was a deep pink colour that also complemented my dress. On the lower lid, she blended in "Silver Moon" which tied all the colours in together perfectly!
Using the pencil line "Storm", the makeup artist smudged the shadowon the upper and lower lash line for extra definition.
Bearing in mind, whilst all this was happening, I had no clue what was going on and I wasn't allowed to see until the big reveal at the end. An oversized mirror was plastered on the wall next to me yet I stuck to the makeup artists word and promised not to look. Let's just say, I put a lot of trust in her!
Convincing me not to put on false eyelashes because mine were "long enough", the makeup artist used the Extreme Party Mascara and boy did it live up to it's name! I must admit, I am fortunate enough to have fairly long eyelashes but man, they went from mediocre to BAM in one brush of the wand.
Next was the bit that I was most dreading, eyebrows. Bringing back horrible memories of my waxy slugs of Year 10, I was convinced it was going to go horribly wrong. Dreading the outcome, the makeup artist used the eyeshadow "Sadale" to fill them in with, you guessed it, an eyebrow brush. She then set them in place with clear gloss brow mascara as I was still unaware of how yet looked. Only reassuring comments from my mum put me at ease but I still prayed that my brows looked nothing like they were back in my Yeat 10 days - I mean, brows frame the face, they complete the look! Get them wrong and you're screwed!
I myself am basically a lipstick virgin, I've never worn lipstick - well if you exclude dance shows but that doesn't really count. So when the makeup artist said she was going to apply lipstick, I almost fled from my chair. The only lip products I've used is lip balms! We eventually settled for a gorgeous pinky shade called "Pale Petal" and finished it with a sparkly lipgloss. Then, before I knew it, the moment of truth finally arrived. It was all resting on the last 45 minutes. 3...2...1...and the mirror was held up. I was speechless. In a good way of course! The person looking back didn't look like me at all! And the brows, well they were on point - eyebrow game was hella strong. Even the lipstick suited me. That was a first. I was so grateful for what she had done and impressed at the finished result. I was that impressed, I even bought the lipstick which has now become my favourite - well it's my first one. As I lay here in my bed writing this now, I have no make up on, except "Pale Petal" on my lips. It's fair to say, I really do like it. Is that the sound of a new collection I hear? I think so!
After photos of the finished look with my friends and the lovely makeup artists, Katie handed me a sheet with everything she had used on my face; from the names of the products, to the names of all the brushes, this sheet was basically a "How to" guide of the makeup she had just completed.

I thoroughly enjoyed that 45 minutes and definitely need to find an excuse to go again!

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed this!

Have you ever had a Bobbi Brown makeover?

P.S. I must go back and purchase the foundation stick!

Possibly a beginning to a new segment for this blog? Maybe. After being rewarded with 11 weeks of summer following my final year at school, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to catch up on some books I've pushed aside - or swapped for revision books!

These books, to me, stand out as 4 of the main contenders under the category of Books Every Girl Should Read. I mean it, they cover the whole spectrum, from friendships to boys, make up to make ups, these 4 books will have you feeling every emotion on the planet - much like a day of a teenage girl.

The first 3 are from The Hills star and the fashion icon that is Lauren Conrad. L.A. Candy, Sweet Little Lies and Sugar and Spice are part of the L.A. Candy collection and depict the life of a new found It Girl, Jane Roberts and her laid back bestie, Scarlett Harp as they are thrown into the world of reality T.V. With the backdrop of iconic Los Angeles, we follow the two girls as they weave in and out of new pals, hot eye candy, VIP treatment and life in the spotlight. If you loved The Hills you're garunteed to love this, it even features a few flashbacks from Conrad's time on The Hills - déjà vu, eh?
Lauren Conrad pulls back the curtain on young Hollywood and shows that sometimes the real drama is behind the scenes. The L.A. Candy trilogy is a must for any beauty, fashion and gossip loving girl and remember the lies are only as sweet as the people telling them.

This next book is Marmite. You're either going to love it, or hate it. Being an autobiography, it's obviously going to be about the celebrity in question. Whether you like Binky Felstead or not, through this book you'll grow to love her.
Chelsea Girl, Alexandra 'Binky' Felstead, provides a backstage pass on the secret and exclusive world of Chelsea and lifts the lid on her life and relationships, on and off the screen of the hit T.V. Series Made In Chelsea.
We learn how she came from a childhood you wouldn't automatically assume, this overnight celebrity talks about the ugly side of school, friendships and Chelsea itself. After being thrown into the limelight back in 2011, Binky tells us how she was catapulted from her nine-to-five job to the world of reality TV fame, much like L.A. Candy. From fueds to frenemies to fake tan, this book covers the life of Chelsea It Girl Binky Felstead, from the lows to the highs she uncovers the reality of Chelsea life and the whirlwind that is Made In Chelsea.
Including some fab places to eat, life tips and beauty secrets this book is a must have for any girl.

That concludes my Summer Reads for now, hope you found this useful!

What are your summer reads this year?

After looking in the bags of my most recent purchases, everything I bought seem to have something in common. Everything was white! I don't know if I was drawn to the colour after the South of England decided to go up 10 degrees but all I know is that white has become my new favourite colour to wear.

Zara had a sale, H&M had a sale, Misselfridge had a sale, need I say more! Let's just say I felt obliged to spend some hard earned money on some much needed pieces to add to my collection.

From left to right

Wrap Over Bralet With Zip // Sheinside -£14
Backless Loose Fitting Jumpsuit // Zara - £22.99
Distressed Denim Shorts // Primark - £10
Long Sleeved Crop Top With Mesh Panel // Missguided - £16.99
Structured Blazer // H&M - £10

All these pieces were bought with an event in mind from a wedding to a field party, these items either have or will be put to good use.

White, like black, is a versatile colour and the staple colour to have in your wardrobe. With a good tan and beaming smile to match, any daring or even basic white outfit can be pulled off. Usually seen as a scary colour, all white outfits can be daunting as paranoia of stains kick in. Let me tell you something, I wore white jeans to a BBQ where afterwards we played manhunt in the forest and guess what, I came home with no evidence of the forest fun or BBQ burgers on my jeans, so give it a go girl!

Let today be the day you switch up your outfit and go all white! Just make sure you time it correctly, if you get what I mean?

Stay tuned for more beauty, fashion and lifestyle posts.

Having got my craving for new clothing out of my system, I subsequently replaced it with a desire to by some "much needed" beauty products. These products either replaced empties, are alternatives to disappointing products or new products that I had to buy. As you can tell, this wasn't a purse indenting splurge but more of a collection of purse friendly purchases. Everything below was under £5 and falls into each category of what, I believe, every girl should own.

Dry shampoo, for me, is a must! It revives that "day of washing" hair grease and spruces it back to life. Batiste comes out on top above all drugstore own brands. Coming in a variety of different purposes, scents and packagings, Batiste has a dry shampoo for every occasion! Like stated in a previous post, a long time http://editedstyle.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/hair-and-beauty-products-i-could-not.html?m=0, I raved about Batiste's XXL Big & Bouncy Volume and to this day nothing has topped it. Since I couldn't find that particular one, I settled on the Floral & Fruity Blush, I blame the ditsy packaging really. This, like all the products was from Boots and was £2.49 and a vital must have for any girl!

If you haven't heard of the new "Micellar Water Solution" that many well known cosmetic companies have recently brought out then where have you been living the past week?! After watching many YouTube reviews on this and after seeing Becca from Becca Rose http://youtu.be/LyG05GGSWeo recommend it, I had to get it! This is the L'OREAL Paris Skin Perfction 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution and claims to effortlessly take off makeup without the need to excessively wipe it off. The Purifying Micellar Solution also claims to unclog pores and smooth skin, sounds perfect to me! I guess you'll just have to wait for a review, watch this space. So in the meantime, go down to your local Boots, pick up this new solution for only £3.50 and try for yourself!

If fruity scents are something you're drawn to, then this is perfect for you. Was I wasn't desparate for a new lip balm? No. Did I really need a new lip balm? Still no. Did the inviting raspberry rose scent make me buy it? Yes. Most lip balms are usually strawberry flavoured and to me smell artificial and sickly. However, the Nivea Lip Tin comes in less common flavours such as Creme Caramel and Vanilla as well as Raspberry Rose. This £2.10 tin places a perfect pale pink colour to your lips and moistures them just as it says on the tin - get it?

You can't go wrong with a bit of Barry M Nail Varnish, at £3.99 it's an absolute steal. If you've used it before, you'll know it's quickly drying, long lasting and chip resistant finish. The small bottles seem to last forever and come in more colours, textures and finishes then you can ever imagine! I was swayed into buying this as it was part of Barry M's new "Matte Finish" collection and came in the nude shade I was looking for. After applying two layers, the nail varnish dried withing seconds and produced a clean matte finish. If this is what you're looking for, make sure you buy before it's all sold out!

If you're part of the beauty craze and know all the tips and tricks of the trade then I'm sure you'll know about The Collection's concealer. Under £4, this drugstore secret does the same, if not better, than many high end concealers! It's perfect for under eye coverage, evening out skin tone and hiding that pesky spot now and again. I had to pick this up to replace my 332626th one (I'm just kidding) and if you've never tried it, what are you waiting for?! Your local drugstore most probably stocks it is awaiting for you purchase. Beauty bloggers and YouTubers such as Becca Rose swear by it, so go and find the hype about it for yourself!

This is where I will end this post, I hope you enjoyed this and stay tuned for an empties post coming soon!
