If you can't treat yo' self on Valentines day (oh as well as Christmas, Birthday, pay day, the other day and everyday) then when can you? If you're a single pringle (regardless of whether you're ready to mingle or not) or you've already got ya'self a fella, the following list is for you. In fact it's for everyone. It's for every girl. Every girl with a bank balance that has anything more than three big fat 0's in it that is.
When Sunday 14th rolls around you can expect to see me have some qual time with me, myself and I, cos I don't need no man telling me what to do *clicks fingers in sassy triangle* (lol but on a serious note I hope my future hubby isn't reading this).
So regardless of your relationship status, treat yourself this V-day and buy yourself something (or everything) off the following list and give yourself some well deserved self-loving. Cos at the end of the day, if you don't love yourself, who else will!
1. A tea set for one
Well if this doesn't scream "Look at me I'm single" then I don't know what else will. Forget the His & Hers matching crockery appearing in every goddamn store, get something for you and you only. Why I hear you ask? Well here's why. If it's a crockery set for none other than numero uno then you don't have the unnecessary stress about someone else using your fancy mug - that is quite clearly YOURS AND YOURS ONLY. You don't have to fret about someone else breaking it (of course it's okay if you break it but my god if someone else dare break it - well that's a whole other story). And finally god forbid someone else will even have the audacity to go behind your back, unbeknown to you and use it - that would be taking the absolute biscuit!
So get yourself your own set for one, put the kettle on, devour a whole packet of Tesco's Finest biscuits and in the famous words of JB, love yourself.
2. The snazziest most glitteriest, sparkliest pair of headphones
Block out the haters in these bad boys and listen to your fave album, audio book or video on your own. Zone out and lose yourself in something that only you can really appreciate.
3. The biggest bouquet of flowers
Get yourself the most prettiest, pinkiest, floweriest bouquet of your fave flowers and give them to yourself.
You can even go one step ahead and write a note saying "from your secret admirer" and get them delivered to your door so your family won't think you're some lonely loser (or they'll think you've got a stalker, but hey either way flowers are pretty).
4. A bouquet of cute kittens
One word.
YOLO.
5. A bouquet of cute ponies
Each to their own...
6. Matching set of underwear
C'mon you can't say you've never put on a matching set of underwear and felt like you could take over the world?! I don't know why, but matching underwear just unleashes your inner boss babe and gives you the power making you feel like you could achieve world domination. It's just fab. So this V Day treat yourself to some pretty new undies and a matching bra. I suggest browsing the Victoria's Secret page or for a more affordable alternative defo check out H&M's lingerie.
7. Fancy chocolate
Get yourself some really fancy choc. By that I don't mean the chocolate from your local supermarket that's £2 more than the basic range. By fancy chocolate I mean proper fancy chocolate. You know the stuff. The stuff you wouldn't dare buy if you just fancied a little cheeky choco snack. The stuff you walk past in the shops and go "oooooh that looks yummy" - that's the stuff I'm talking about. And now you have an actual excuse to consume some of that heavenly stuff.
8. Waffle Maker
Who in the whole of the world wouldn't want a waffle maker?! Who wouldn't want to be able to make waffles all day everyday?! Uhh not me that's for sure. Imagine the Insta pics you could upload of these dreamy waffles.
9. This mug
If you don't get anything else on this list, just get this - oh and a large bottle of vodka too.
10. This bear sleeping bag
If you want to hide away from all your problems, have the best nights sleep ever and look like a werido, then this is a must.
11. A rose scented candle
If you can't fathom the idea of sending yourself a bouquet of roses, this can be your substitute - on the plus side, it will last way longer.
12. These glasses
Oh Ma Gaawwwwd. I need these. And so do you. Plain glasses are just so boring and darling, you're not boring.
13. A pair of shoes
Whether that be a pair of sexy Kurt Geiger's you've been eyeing up or those pair of boots from Zara, treat yourself to a pair of killer shoes. Go on, treat those feet of yours.
14. Lipstick
Pink, red, orange, nude or whatever your fave colour is, treat your pout to a fresh lippy and go kiss the boys and make them cry ;)
Gwarrrn, treat yo' self.

We're 2 months into 2016 already (don't even get me started - where the efff did January go?!) and it's about time your wardrobe deserved a total (if not partial) revamp. It's time to get those basic necessities incorporated into your closet and make sure you have enough staples to see you right through to 2017.
So what's on my list? Well, let's get started...
1. Cat Eye Sunglasses
A classic, chic and sophisticated shaped sunny, these bad boys are my all-time faves. Forget aviators, bug-eyes or your classic RayBan style, the cat eye is where it's at. These beauties can totally transform any outfit and make you look a million dollars.
From the likes of New Look, Asos, Quay and Topshop; the high street is being flooded with my favourite shaped sunglasses and it's about time you got your hands on a pair.

2. Camel Coat
Okay so you may be thinking that camel coat's are so last year and that everyone and their dog has hopped onto Kimmy K's bandwagon and got themselves this trendy number. But no, camel coat's are a staple piece in any fashionista's wardrobe and something you've got to get yourself - if you haven't already. The camel coat can be teemed with any outfit. From an all black ensemble to a casual jeans and tee combo, throw on a camel coat over any outfit and you're good to go and take over the world. Dress it up with some court shoes, or even wear it with your fave pair of white Nikes - the possibilities are endless and this piece will see you right through all seasons.
What are you waiting for?

3. Pointed Court Shoes
Now these are a must. A real must. A real must-have in any women's wardrobe regardless of your passion for fashion (lol cringe). The pointed court shoe is one of those shoes that just fit with any wardrobe, they're perfect for any age and any and every type of style. So simple yet so stylish, iconic and let's not beat around the bush ladies, they're just super comfy as well! Most highstreet stores stock these bad boys in a variety of different yet similar styles.

4. Black Roll Neck Jumper
Now this is more of a A/W (and S/S if you're from the UK) staple piece that should have a firm place in your wardrobe. It can act as a base layer to warm you up in the chilly months or as a top layer as we progress (fingers crossed) into more warmer months. And black? Well it's the perfect go-to colour and obvs goes with everything.
P.S. It's also fab at covering up dodgy fake tan that makes you look like you have a weird skin disease (lol guilty).

5. Black Skinny Jeans
If there isn't at least 5 different pairs of black skinnies in your wardrobe, you're doing something seriously wrong. These staple trousers are super easy to throw on with anything and something everyone must own! They're the perfect bottom half for any all black outfit and they're the easiest things to dress up or down. If you're like me and own about one pair of black jeans for everyday of the week, go and treat yourself to a fresh black pair to get you through 2016 and pray to the gods that they don't turn into grey jeans after 2 washes.
Here are some fab black skinnies to get your hands on...

6. Heeled Boots
And last but not least, heeled boots. Grab yourself a pair of black, brown or tan heeled boots to see you right through to next Winter. Wear with a chunky knit, jeans and an oversized fur coat for a luxe Winter look or with a summer dress to add an edge-y look to your Summer style. Now is the perfect time to invest in a decent pair of heeled boots. Whilst shops aim to rid their Winter clothes to make way for all the Summer pieces that have already begun to arrive in our favourite high street stores, sales should be full of gorgeous heeled boots to get your paws on. Go on, treat yo' self.

There's not a lot of beauty products that I can put my hands down and say y'know what these bad boys are good, but when I find something that I absolutely love, I just have to tell the whole world about it. And that's what I'm gonna do now - kinda.
The following 5 beauty products (makeup, skincare and fake tan - yup, there's something for everyone) are products that I basically cannot live without, they're my holy grail products. They're the kind of products that send you into a psycho frenzy when you've realised you're about to run out of them. You know the ones, yeah?
Anyway, here are my top 5 beauty products that I absolutely swear by.
1. Arbonne Deep Pore Blemish Cleanser
The first one deserves a massive shoutout to my friend Jen who got me interested hooked on this bad boy. I've always been a firm lover of Liz Earle's Hot Cloth Cleanse & Polish Cleanser, I've religiously used it morning and evening for the past few years and when I go without using it I can actually start to tell a difference, and that my friends is when you know something's a good'en. But this cleanser unexpectedly flew into my life and knocked Liz Earle's Cleanser straight off my shelf (sorry Lizzie). This cleanser is actually unreal. Like actually unreal. Like amazing. Like words cannot describe it and to top it off there's nothing nasty in it. Nothing but pure botanical extracts and all the good bits - and of course all the sciencey stuff behind it.
It's such a gentle product but gets the job done and feels so damn good. The salicylic acid in it helps reduce the number of blemishes by removing excess oil and exfoliating away dead skin cells and making your skin look more even toned - aka perfection in a bottle.
Now I'm hooked on this Arbonne life saver, I can't imagine not using it again. After just 2 weeks of incorporating it into my daily skincare routine my skin has already started to improve drastically and it's all down to this bad boy.
Thanks Jen!
2. YSL Touche Eclat in Shade 2
I've mentioned this cult product before and expressed my undying love for it ever since I got hold of it (you can read about it here) and still to this day I swear by it. Now that the novelty aspect of the clicky pen has (finally) worn off, I can really appreciate the product itself and how fab it really is. Not just for concealing undereyes, it also brightens dull areas and can be used as a highlight - how versatile?!
Defo recommned snapping up this clicky golden piece of wonder at your nearest YSL counter.
C'mon it's iconic, how could you not?!
You can get it here.
3. Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow Pomade in Ash Brown
Ohhhhh Myyyyy Goddddddd.
This.
This has revolutionised my brows. It's completely blown my Naked palette I used to use on my eyebrows completely out of the water. This is a game changer.
I was lucky enough to find this in my stocking at Christmas (thanks Santa you babe) and have used it every day since. If you've never tried it before (ummm what are you doing?!) then seriously get it. If you're brows are looking dire and need some fleeky-ness, this is your answer. The shade Ash Brown is perfect for my dark brown eyebrows and it comes in so many different shades warm and cool that you'll bound to find one that's perfect for you.
You can get it here on Cult Beauty for only £15.
4. St Moriz Fake Tan Mousse in Medium
Okay, if you know me you'll know how obsessed I am with fake tan. I'm a self confessed fake tan-o-holic, I just love the stuff. I mean c'mon, there's nothing wrong with wanting to look like a bronze goddess who's just hopped off the plane from a 4 week vay-cay in the Maldives now is there?! Lol I wish. There really isn't anything wrong with giving your complexion a bit of a boost especially this time of the year when the sun is practically non-existent.
My go-to fake tan is probably one of the cheapest ones on the market and one you've probably all tried. By no means is it the best fake tan in the world (I'm still yet to find that) but it's a tan that can take you from pale to looking like a different ethnicity and that's the kinda tan I like. St Moriz only works well if you wash it off, exfoliate and moisturise on a daily basis otherwise it can leave you looking like you have rare skin disease - and that ain't pretty. I swear by this stuff if you have the time to complete a full body care routine because it can leave you looking like a bronzed goddess.
You can buy it here.
5. Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Lip Liner in Bare
Forget MAC's Whirl or Spice, this is 10x better. This bad boy from Elizabeth Arden is the creamiest and most easy to apply nude lip liner that I've ever found. No sharpening needed. No breaking nibs. And no having to reapply every 2 seconds. It goes perfectly with MAC's Velvet Teddy and can withstand anything that comes into contact with it. It leaves your lips feeling smooth and soft and doesn't give you that awful crispy, dry look that most other lip liners do.
By far the best nude lip liner I've found.
You can buy it here.
And that's it!
There you have my 5 beauty products that I absolutely swear by.
What are your faves?

Ha ha, so it happened again. Yeah, about that.
I'm not one to break promises (probs because I never make them because I know I'll never keep them) but the promises I made about getting back to blogging and getting my a** in gear to put more content out there more regularly has kinda backfired. If you hadn't noticed, my last blog post was on the 23rd of September, and it's now February. Soz.
Life just got in the way guys!!!!!!!
I'm a working gal, I've got commitments, I've got places to go and people to see and well, blogging ended up taking a backseat. I can't say I'm happy with it and everyday I always want to post something and share something with my readers but it's never seemed to take off and be anything more than just an urge.
So once again soz.
Like I'm really soz.
In fact, I'm not soz, I'm sorry. Like proper sorry. Like proper whole heartedly, here have some flowers kinda sorry. I wish I had more time to post new and exciting content frequently like I used to but LIFE.
I know I really shouldn't use life an excuse for not jamming some words on my keyboard and snapping a few flat lays but you gotta understand what I mean.
I mean I have actually been blogging, but for another blog. I'm cheating on you. There's someone else in the picture. Har har.
Basically, I've been running the blog for my cheerleading squad, Revolution Cheerleading Academy (have a read of it here), so I've *kinda* still been blogging but just not on www.bethanyemerton.com.
But that's all going to change because I've made a vow to myself to get my blog back up and running and start posting weekly - she says.
2016 is going to be a big year and a year that I want to relgiously document not just for you but also for myself, so when 2016 comes to an end and 2017 is in sight I can look back and be like "y'know what, that was a fab year".
And so here we go, here's to being back to blogging and being back on track.
Here's to a fab 2016 (better late than never eyyy).
